Find out what subtitles and GPS have in common here ->

Many people watch TV or movies in English. Great!!! Most of them use subtitles. NOT great!

Subtitles are like a GPS… You get to where you are going but you can’t remember how you got there. This means you need the GPS/Subtitles again next time you go on your journey. It becomes a reading exercise and you turn off your listening skills. So, to improve your comprehension, do the following, and see a difference within a few months.

  • Turn off the subtitles! If you watch a movie to relax, you can turn on the subs but if you are watching it to learn English, remember that it is a class! You should have a notebook and a pen to jot down vocabulary
  • Watch it twice. You will catch  more the second time!
  • Watch it in Spanish, then English without subs. You will already have an idea of the story and script.
